The Nutri System
diet may not seem like a diet at all because you eat five times a day and you can eat a lot of food. Even though it may seem as if you are
eating a lot, the food you eat is good for you and designed to keep you healthy and full. When you order the food, you get enough entrees for 28
days of meals and snacks. However, you do have to buy some food items, such as fruit and vegetables, but the Welcome package will give you a
weekly shopping list.
The foods you get for this diet are all prepackaged and can be stored in a cupboard. You won't have to try to find room in your freezer. Nor will
you have to carefully weight or measure the portions because each entre is just the right meal portion. In this manner, you actually lean how
much you should be eating at each meal and when you keep to it, you will not only keep the weight off, but keep it off.
Even though dairy food is recommended on this diet, there are many people who cannot tolerate milk. The meal planner provides a list of
alternatives to milk, so that you are still getting the right nutrients. However, these may not have as much calcium as milk, so you may have to
take a calcium supplement each day. You can also eat yogurt on this diet, but it has to be low-fat yogurt. The recommendation is yogurt with
about 100 calories, 8 grams of protein and 12 grams of carbohydrates. Even though you may need milk with your cereal breakfast entre, you cannot
count that milk as your daily dairy portion. On the Nutrisystem program, you do need to drink 8 glasses of water a day.
The diet program from Nutrisystem meets all the guidelines of the United States Department of Agriculture. In fact in some respects it exceeds
the guidelines in providing less sodium than is recommended.
